February 27th every year is dedicated to the "International Polar Bear Day".
While the global warming and climate change are getting worse and worse every day, all creatures are the victims, including Polar Bears who find themselves harder to hunt for food.
The survey found that polar bears are getting over 10% "thinner" in the past decade.
Photos showed that some of them are pitifully starving!
The warmer weather has made the lives in the poles difficult.
A lot of species plummet. Some are almost extinct. A few that should not increase, rise.
The bear's main food source is seals. They are less around, so they have to struggle and feed on smaller animals: fish, seabirds, small rodents, even forced to eat vegetation like seaweed, kelp, and berries. Some bears are found to pick food from human's ocean garbage!
Besides, separation of ices like this causes polar habitat scattered. The thinner ices also make going around harder. They can swim in freezing water, but prefer not to waste their energy.
There comes this day, started in 2012 by the Polar Bears International (PBI), the largest polar bear conservation organisation, to promote that we must not only stop Polar Bear's hunting, but also care about the pollution you produce all the time.
Start now or never. It's simpler than you think!

อากาศที่อุ่นขึ้นทำให้ชีวิตความเป็นอยู่แถบขั้วโลกเกิดปัญหา สัตว์หลายสายพันธุ์ลดลงอย่างรวดเร็ว บางชนิดเกือบสูญพันธุ์ แต่สัตว์ที่ไม่ควรจะเพิ่มกลับเพิ่ม
อาหารหลักของหมีขั้วโลกคือแมวน้ำ แต่จำนวนที่ลดลงมาก ทำให้หมีต้องหันไปกินสัตว์อื่นที่ตัวเล็กกว่าแทน อย่าง ปลา นกทะเล สัตว์ตระกูลหนู หรือแม้แต่ต้องฝืนใจกินพืชผัก พวกสาหร่ายหรือเบอร์รี่
นักวิทยาศาสตร์เคยพบว่าบางตัวถึงขั้นคุ้ยขยะของมนุษย์ที่ลอยมาตามทะเลด้วย!
นอกจากนั้น แผ่นน้ำแข็งที่ละลายแตกแยกกัน ทำให้ถิ่นที่อยู่แถบขั้วโลกกระจัดกระจายไป หลายส่วนก็ละลายจนบางลง ทำให้สัตว์ไปมายากขึ้น แม้ว่ายในน้ำเย็นจัดได้ แต่ก็เป็นเรื่องเหนื่อยเสียเปล่า
วันหมีขั้วโลกสากลจึงกำเนิดขึ้นมาเมื่อปี 2012 โดยองค์กรหมีขั้วโลกนานาชาติ (Polar Bears International หรือ PBI) เป็นองค์กรอนุรักษ์หมีขั้วโลกที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก ซึ่งไม่ใช่แค่กระตุ้นให้หยุดการล่าหมี แต่ยังให้เราทุกคนหวนมาใส่ใจถึงปริมาณมลพิษที่เราสร้างขึ้นกันตลอดเวลาด้วย
